Meet Bhawna. She believes that if you aim for the stars, you will at least reach the moon.
Strongly independent since childhood, Bhawna went on a two-day hunger strike to convince her family to allow her to pursue higher studies.
“I was very sure that I wanted to be an independent professional ever since college and I paid for the course by tutoring school children.”
“Even when my husband’s job took us both to a smaller town, I never gave up on my dream to thrive in my career.”
Today, Bhawna leads the finance function for Corning India and is a strong advocate for bringing more women into the workforce.
One of the things she appreciates most about Corning is that every voice is respected.
“Diversity is not just an agenda here. There is actual focus on inclusion and empowerment. I see real efforts being made for visibility and growth and that makes me want to come to work every day.”
Bhawna takes every opportunity that she can to mentor women professionals in her team by involving them in decision making and giving them a platform to enhance their visibility.
“I always tell my colleagues to not leave any stone unturned. You never know which one gives you an opportunity to grow wings and fly high in your career,” she signs off.
