Corning-sponsored mobile dental unit hits the road
Corning Incorporated, in collaboration with Rochester-based Mosaic Health and Chemung County, officially launched a new mobile dental unit at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 2 at the company’s Big Flats facility. The mobile dental unit is the culmination of a yearslong plan to bring low- and no-cost dental services to area residents.
Corning makes good on plan to increase teacher diversity
In September 2024, Corning's Office of Racial Equality & Social Unity (ORESU) celebrated a major milestone in bringing diverse teachers to the central New York region where Corning is located when Katherine Molina was hired as a new teacher in the Elmira City School District. She landed the role after her second year as an intern in ORESU's Teach for Southern Tier New York Summer Pathways Program.
Corning Impact & Investment grant supports Elmira College
Elmira College has received a grant through Corning Community Impact & Investment for the college to purchase an advanced piece of scientific equipment to enhance education and research in chemistry, forensic science and environmental science.
Corning funds body cameras and facilitates reform for local police
In December 2024, Corning completed a funding program for local law enforcement to equip them with body cameras. The project, which also includes video storage and maintenance for two years, is an example of a public-private partnership to help support the community and fulfill an executive order from New York's governor.
