In addition to focusing on energy efficiency, Corning Incorporated’s Global Energy Management (GEM) team is dedicated to coming up with innovative ways to reduce and manage water usage in our operations. We treat water like a treasured resource, not something to be ignored or wasted.
“Water is such an important part of our manufacturing processes and to Corning’s business functions in general. Using water is unavoidable, but we can do our part to use it wisely,” said Patrick Jackson, director of GEM. “Our teams around the world are constantly implementing measures to reduce water usage, to creatively clean and purify water, and to recycle it. GEM encourages and supports these efforts, which not only save our facilities water, but ultimately save Corning money. By educating employees, providing resources, and encouraging everyone to be mindful of conservation, it's our hope that these efforts will preserve clean water for future generations."
From optmized compressed air chilling, to low-flow restroom fixtures, to utilizing “gray water,” Corning finds ways to save millions of gallons of water each year, and hopes to inspire others to do the same.
