Corning® FluoroBlok™ Cell Culture Inserts | Light-tight PET Membrane | Corning

FluoroBlok cell culture inserts are designed with a patented light-tight polyethylene terephthalate (PET) membrane that efficiently blocks the transmission of light between 400 and 700 nm, allowing fluorescence detection in a simplified and non-destructive manner. Fluorescently labeled cells present in the top chamber of the insert are shielded from bottom-reading fluorescence plate readers and microscopes by the FluoroBlok membrane.

After labeled cells migrate through the membrane, they are easily detected by a bottom-reading fluorescence plate reader or microscope, thereby eliminating manual cell counting and additional processing steps. This non-destructive detection method enables both kinetic and endpoint migration and invasion assays.

Improve assay reproducibility with Corning Matrigel^® matrix pre-coated FluoroBlok systems. These are available as the Corning BioCoat 24- and the 96-HTS multiwell insert systems. The systems also offer an automation-friendly format compatible with most robotics and fluid handlers, and they allow users to analyze 24- or 96-multiwell inserts simultaneously, because all insert wells are part of a sin­gle plate. In addition, Corning FluoroBlok multiwell insert systems provide reliable, lot-to-lot consistent protein coatings for tumor cell inva­sion and endothelial cell migration and invasion assays.
