Senior Vice President & General Manager, Display, Mobile Consumer Electronics & Corning Asia
John Zhang is senior vice president and general manager, Display, Mobile Consumer Electronics (MCE), and Corning Asia. In this role, Zhang leads Corning’s global operations for the Display and MCE Market-Access Platforms. He is also responsible for driving Corning’s growth in Asia by partnering closely with all MAP leaders, developing leadership talent, strengthening the organization in the region, and fully leveraging Corning’s resources and capabilities to serve customers.
Zhang joined Corning in 2008 in Corning, New York, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Business Development. In 2010, Zhang was appointed to an expanded role, leading the Strategy and Corporate Development organization of Corning International. In this role, he established the formation of Samsung Corning Advanced Glass with Samsung and Corning’s acquisition of Samsung Corning Precision Materials. In 2014, Zhang was named deputy general manager, Corning Display Technologies. In 2020, he was appointed senior vice president and general manager, Corning Display, responsible for the Display MAP, including Corning Display Technologies and Corning Precision Materials.
Prior to joining Corning, Zhang worked at Xerox Corporation, where he held management positions at both its operating units and corporate headquarters.
Zhang holds B.S./B.A. degrees in mathematics and economics, an M.S. in computer science, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester. He serves on the University’s Global Leadership Council.
