Course Descriptions

Technology changes at the speed of light. Corning was there at the beginning and is committed to keeping you up to date on the latest innovations in the fiber optic industry. See the Light® seminars offer free three- to six-hour training sessions on a variety of fiber optic topics.

These seminars are taught by Corning experts. Our instructors bring real world experience and application to the training sessions. We update our content for seminars annually and offer new topics each year. Upon completion, the student is emailed  a certificate of completion. BICSI credits may apply. Courses are also recognized by FOA as credits toward FOA certifications. These free seminars are an excellent resource for instructors, installers, contractors, designers, and others who are seeking to continue their education.

Data Center Fundamentals

This interactive six-hour session will provide insights into designing for increasingly complex data centers. We will address new architectures such as “spine and leaf” and solutions that support migration to 40 and 100 Gigabits per second.

We will discuss standards such as TIA-942 and -606, IEEE 802.3 and ANSI T11, and use these standards to design a data center, while introducing the Corning Pretium EDGE® HD solution and how those products fit within that design. Finally, we will review necessary testing to certify and troubleshoot your network.

Target Audience: End users, consultants, designers, and integrators seeking a better understanding of data center solutions in the telecom industry.

UniCam® (No-Epoxy, No-Polish Connector) Technology Seminar

This training session is focused on the engineering principles behind how the UniCam, no- epoxy, no- polish connector, and tools used during the termination process work. Our research strongly suggests that this knowledge inherently creates a more proficient technician because understanding “why” and “how” provides the basis for trouble shooting and problem resolution. This interactive presentation includes both lecture and hands-on demonstrations. All concepts are presented on a dry-erase board in simple terms that expand throughout the session.

Attendees should bring their Corning UniCam kit if they have one. If not, one will be provided for use during the training.

Duration: 3.5 hours

Target Audience: Contractors/installers looking for hands-on termination training.
