Every Corning facility has an environmental management system (EMS) in place. An EMS reduces waste and ensures compliance in a continuous effort to reduce environmental impact.

Environmental Management Systems
Ensuring Corning Incorporated is a leading responsible environmental citizen around the world is priority number one for Corning Incorporated’s Corporate Environmental Control (CEC) business. To advance the corporation’s already strong environmental performance, CEC requires manufacturing and laboratory facilities to be certified to ISO 14001 and verified by a third party organization.
ISO 14001, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is a voluntary standard that establishes criteria for an environmental management system (EMS). This EMS assists companies in continually improving their environmental performance—energy and resource efficiency, reducing waste, etc.—while complying with applicable legislation.
All Corning Incorporated manufacturing and laboratory facilities around the world are either ISO 14001 certified or are actively pursuing ISO 14001 certification.
