CORNING, N.Y. — Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today that it was named the 3D InCites Material Supplier of the Year. Corning had been nominated specifically for its development of glass carriers optimized for advanced semiconductor packaging processes.
This new offering, called Corning Advanced Packaging Carriers, reduces customers’ challenge of in-process warp by up to 40 percent. That improvement contributes to reduced development cycle time and maximized chip yields for customers pursuing fan-out packaging.
“This award is a milestone achievement for Corning,” said Rustom Desai, commercial director of Corning Precision Glass Solutions. “It further validates our commitment to developing cutting edge, glass-based solutions for the world’s leading semiconductor companies.”
Françoise von Trapp, editorial director of 3D InCites, announced the winners at the International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society’s Device Packaging Conference in Fountain Hills, Arizona last week. The annual award recognizes achievements in furthering the commercialization of 2.5D and 3D integrated circuit technologies.
“Wafer warpage has been an ongoing challenge for advanced fan-out processes. It’s fitting that Corning be recognized by its industry peers for providing a solution,” said von Trapp. “We’re pleased to present them with the 2019 3D InCites Material Supplier of the Year award for this significant technology innovation.”
