Glass ampoules are considered to be the most tamper resistant drug delivery system, with billions of glass ampoules are used throughout the world every year. Corning glass is used for all ampoule applications including Open End Ampoules, Funnel Top Ampoules and Closed Ampoules.
Corning® 51 and Corning® 51 Amber glasses are durable enough to be produced in tube form with common ampoule tube thicknesses between 0.5mm and 0.7mm. Both glasses are compatible with common ampoule opening techniques of one point cut, color break ring and score ring. Precise dimensional control and guaranteed consistency of the wall thickness is critical with respect to the full functionality of the final ampoule part in all applications and Corning has an expertise in this characteristic with years of dedicated experience and service to the ampoule converting market. Corning partners with our converting customers to provide a customizable tubing offering to help enable high converting yields. This customizable offering can include any combination of distinct lengths, levels of external coating, or different end finishes.
