Corning Named One of the Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality
The Human Rights Campaign recently recognized Corning Incorporated as one of only 407 businesses in the U.S. that received a perfect score on its 2016 Corporate Equality Index. This distinguishes Corning as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.” We have received the top score of 100 percent for 12 consecutive years.
“Corning's track record of receiving a perfect score on this important index for more than a decade validates our commitment to being a company that creates and sustains an inclusive culture for all,” said Monica Bankston, who leads Corning’s Office of Global Diversity and Inclusion.
The Human Rights Campaign is the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization in the U.S. Published every year for 14 years, the Corporate Equality Index rates a company’s policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality. In 2016, the Human Rights Campaign ranked 851 companies in its Corporate Equality Index, up from 781 in 2015.
"We are proud to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign, and in keeping with our commitment to value The Individual, we will continue to advocate for policies and practices that ensure equality for our LGBT employees," Bankston said.
We believe in the fundamental dignity each employee and our network consists of a diverse mixture of people. We value the unique ability of each individual to contribute, and we intend that every employee shall have the opportunity to participate fully, to grow professionally, and to develop to his or her highest potential.
