Angiogenesis is the process that governs the formation of new blood vessels. Tumor growth and survival is dependent on different angiogenic factors, which provides the tumor with a vascular network and blood supply that effectively feeds the tumor cells and their microenvironment. With an understanding of this mechanism, researchers have been studying the multitude of angiogenic factors involved in this process in hopes of finding ways to make it easier for drugs to reach the tumor or to inhibit the tumor’s ability to feed itself 5.
Corning Enables the Study of Angiogenic Factors
Corning Matrigel® matrix for endothelial cell tube formation assay and Corning BioCoat® endothelial cell migration angiogenesis systems and kits are just a couple of Corning products being used in research studies.
